Originally from Paterson, NJ, Joan moved to Cape Cod in 2004 with her husband, Ernest, in order to be near family and to enjoy the Cape’s unique natural environment. She was a frequent visitor to the Brewster Senior Center, where she enjoyed lunch and weekly Bingo games.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Kanis, and her son-in-law, Steven Pomante. She is survived by her son, Jack Kanis (Mersh Lubel ), of Brewster, daughter Karen Pomante of New Jersey, grandson Daniel Kanis (Danielle) of Providence, RI, granddaughter Amanda Pomante (Keith) of New Jersey, grandson Steven Patzkowski (Jenn) of New Jersey, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
