
SOUTHINGTON- Mr. Irving “Bud” Schoeck, 90, longtime resident of Wolcott, Southington resident for the last three years and beloved husband of Jennie (Cepelak) Schoeck died Tuesday evening at the Orchards in Southington.
Born in Waterbury on January 30, 1919, he was the son of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Nast) Schoeck.He served in the US Army during WWII in the European Theater with the 484th Refrigeration Company as a truck driver and received the Bronze Star. He was employed by Crowe trucking Co. prior to and immediately after his military service. Eventually he opened Bud’s Oil Service in Wolcott and also worked with his late brother Warren at Schoeck’s Landscaping.
He was a Charter member of the Wolcott VFW, Post 1979 serving as their chaplain. He was a longtime member of Mill Plain Union Church in Waterbury and the Rietdyke Senior Center in Wolcott.
Besides his wife of 66 years, he is survived by his three children, Marlene and her husband James Gagnon of Northfield, Donald and his wife Carol Schoeck of Clayton, DE, Lorraine and her husband Alan of Canton, three grandchildren Sharon and her husband Frank Dirrigl, Steven and his wife Cristina Schoeck, Stefanie and her husband Todd Thompson, four great grandchildren, Kate and Daniel Dirrigl, Noah Schoeck and Joshua Thompson. Besides his brother he is predeceased by his sister Ruth Harrison.
Funeral Services with military honors will be held on Friday at 4 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. Southington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 PM.
