Bernard P Glow
March 25, 1935 – December 26, 2018
Stockholm -- Bernard P Glow, 83, of Stockholm passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, at home, after a short illness.
Born on March 25, 1935 and raised in Franklin by the late Bernard and Anna (Palsulich) Glow, Barney was a lifelong Sussex County resident. He graduated from Franklin High School with the Class of 1952 then went on to earn his Mechanical Engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology, with the class of 1956. As a civil engineer in the early 1960‘s, Barney worked on many bridges stretching along Route 80. He was well known in the County as the owner of Barney’s, which began operations as a chick hatchery and later became a thriving hardware and power equipment business. After the business of 44 years closed, Barney enjoyed managing rental properties and was regarded as a compassionate and generous landlord, often to his own detriment.
Barney enjoyed feeding birds and fish, chasing away squirrels and chewing the fat with his faithful friends. He loved his wife, his family, his friends and especially his dog. He had an irreverent sense of humor, which we will miss dearly. Barney had a wonderful life and brought happiness and humor to those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Barney was predeceased by his sister, Jane (Glow) Blackburn and her husband David.
Barney is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marie (Tosolt) Glow; his sons, Thomas Glowaczewski of Levittown, NY; Michael and his wife Kyung Suk Glow of Farmington, UT; his daughter, Maryjean (Glow) Ellis and her husband John Ellis of Sparta; grandchildren Nickolas Glowaczewski of Vernon and Ashley (Glowaczewski) Palmieri of Hawthorne; his brother-in-law Joseph Tosolt and sister-in-law Eileen Tosolt; nephews, a grand-niece, and grand-nephews.
Viewing will be at the Goble Funeral Home at 22 Main St., Sparta on Sunday, Dec 30 between 4:00PM and 8:00PM with a service at 7:30PM. Donations in his memory may be made to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 55 Sparta Ave, Newton, NJ 07860 or to Father Johns Animal House, 50 Father Johns Lane, Lafayette Twp., NJ 07848.

We loved Barney. He was the kindest of men, a wonderful landlord who cared about taking care of his tenants. We are so broken-hearted that we did not know of Barney's passing. We would have liked to be there to honor his memory.
Condolences to Barney's wife. She was as kind as her husband.
We are so sorry to hear of the loss of another good man. His presence made the world a more compassionate place to be.
God bless you all!
With love and admiration,
Lou and Mary Lavin

Barney always had a kind word to say about everybody. He'd always let me go fishing whenever I wanted and he will be missed.
