"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal."

A long time resident of Sparta, NJ, Dorothy Dwan Quigley passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, September 12, 2020. Most often called Dottie by friends and family, she joined the angels in heaven at the age of 75 after a two-year-long battle with cancer.

She and her loving husband Joseph Quigley blessed this world with three wonderful children, Sharon Kulawiak, Kathleen Toth and Ryan Quigley. She had nine beautiful grandchildren whom she loved spending time with. Her love of traveling afforded her a rich life visiting countries across Europe, Egypt, Canada, Alaska, China and her favorite place to visit was Ireland.

Dottie created her life’s legacy through helping countless children learn how to read and helping families through her passion of teaching dyslexic children and sharing her love of reading and books. Dorothy was also an avid gardener, constantly beautifying her home and the surrounding community with plants and flowers of all kinds. She was instrumental in creating the Sussex County Garden Club. In lieu of sending flowers for services, her family is requesting donations be made to the Sussex County Garden Club, so they can continue their work in the local community. Their website is https://sussexcountygc.org/ and you may contact Mary Ellen Kline for more information.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17th from 12-2 PM and 6-8 PM with a short outside memorial service starting at 7:30 PM at the Goble Funeral Home 22 Main St., Sparta. Social distancing protocols in place. Masks are required inside the funeral home. Nearby arrangements have been made within walking distance for family and friends to eat and gather outside from 12:30- 6:00 PM.

Sincere condolences to the family. Knew Dotty growing up as our mothers were sisters. Met again at family gatherings when I returned to NJ eight years ago. Her smile and caring will go on forever. Love, 'Margie"
