Edward Donald Dahlberg

Edward Donald Dahlberg, 91, of Hackettstown, NJ formerly of Hopatcong, NJ passed away on December 31, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born in Staten Island and was a United States Navy Veteran during WWll. He was a Metropolitan Police Officer in Washington, DC from 1952-1974. He retired from the Police Dept. in 1974 and moved to New Jersey where he worked for the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office in Newton, New Jersey from 1975-1990. He then retired in 1990 as Undersheriff. Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Elsie (Bjorklund) Dalhberg; devoted father of Carolyn Proulx and her husband Mark and son Edward C. Dalhberg. Edward was also the loving grandfather of: Mark Davis and Gregory Robert Proulx and Eva and Ella Dahlberg. Friends are invited to celebrate Edward’s life from 3 - 5pm, Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St, Sparta, NJ 07871. Funeral services will be held from 5 - 6pm Friday at the funeral home with the United States Navy Honors to end the celebration. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Edward’s memory to the Smile Train or the Alzheimer's Association.
