Teresa E. Giampi

Teresa Ellen Giampi, age 88, of Sparta, NJ passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Teresa was born April 8, 1934 at St. Mary's hospital, Orange, NJ. Teresa left home at age 13 in 1947 to attend Sister's of Charity Preparatory School in Convent Station, NJ. In 1951, she entered the community of The Sister's of Charity of Saint Elizabeth and began her teaching vocation at just 17 years old for grades K-8. She completed her B.A. degree from the College of St. Elizabeth in 1961 and in 1967 she made the big decision to leave the convent. She also received her official NJ Teaching Certificate in 1967. Teresa married the love of her life, Philip Giampi in 1970, they were married for 48 years until his passing in 2018. They resided in Oakland, NJ, Mahwah, NJ and retired to Hawley, PA in 1996 before returning back to Sparta, NJ in 2011. Teresa loved reading, needlework, traveling with her husband and spending time in retirement at Woodloch Springs, PA. Most of all, she cherished her grandchildren, close friends and family. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years, Philip and brothers Frances Reilly and Reverand Peter Reilly. She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Ramos and husband Paul and their children Sarah, Alex, Hannah and Liam. Teresa also leaves behind her step children Linda Leduc and husband James, their children Michael, Marc, and Matthew; Nancy Giampi and her children Rachel, Dianna, Tristan and Jared; Philip Giampi and wife Tracy and their children Philip, Kristi, and Kyle and 8 step great grandchildren. Cremation was held privately. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022 10AM at St. Kateri Church 427 Stanhope Rd., Sparta, NJ 07871 with an interment to follow at Sparta Cemetery.
