Carol Ann Motschenbacher

Carol Ann Motschenbacher, of Greenacres, WA, age 62, passed away peacefully in her husband Terry’s arms on July 30, 2018 from complications of an aneurysm.

Carol was born January 13, 1956 in Glendale, California to Ralph and Betty Shepherd. The Shepherd family spent the first several years of Carol’s life in San Marino, California. On a family summer vacation to Montana in 1966, they fell in love with the area and ended up buying a ranch and relocated to Ennis, Montana in 1968. Even though Carol started out in California, she was forever a Montana girl at heart. Growing up on the ranch, Carol began her lifelong passion of caring for animals. Carol graduated from Ennis High School in 1974. She briefly attended the University of Montana before relocating to Spokane, WA to attend Kinman Business School. Carol met her first husband, Russell Cameron after moving to Spokane and they were married in September 1978. Carol worked at the Gonzaga School of Law for brief time before going to work for the Farm Credit System. She enjoyed a long, successful career with Northwest Farm Credit and had just retired in March of 2018 after 36 ½ years with the company. Carol met her husband Terry Motschenbacher in the early nineties and they were married in 1999. Terry and Carol enjoyed traveling with their RV and camping, spending time with all their friends and dividing time between their home in Greenacres, WA and their vacation properties in Northeast Washington and Arizona. Carol lived life to its fullest; she had such an outgoing and caring personality that just drew people in to her. After knowing her for a few days, you felt like you’d known her for years. She will be missed beyond measure.

Carol is survived by her husband Terry Motschenbacher; her brother Don Shepherd and his wife Trish of Mission Viejo, CA; niece Megan Shepherd, her fiancé Chris Rogers and great-nephew Luke Aguilar of Chelsea, OK; nephew Eric Shepherd of Los Angeles, CA; sister-in-law Donna Cornelius and her significant other, Stewart, of Hendersonville, TN; sister-in-law Harriett Mattson of Mora, MN; brother-in-law Earl Motschenbacher and his wife Judy of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law Roger Motschenbacher and his wife Linda, Minneapolis, MN; numerous step-children and step-grandchildren; many dear friends and Carol’s beloved fur baby, Patty Poo.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held Saturday September 8th at 1:00 p.m. in the Harvest Hall at Northwest Farm Credit Services, 2001 S. Flint Rd., Spokane, WA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carol’s honor to charities that were near and dear to Carol’s heart:

From the ,moment I met Carol, I felt I had known her forever. She was so full of life and humor, and you just felt so comfortable with her. I hope we can be a support for Terry, as there is a great void in our lives without her. May she find peace.

I'm so sorry for Carol's family & friends. I first met Carol in 1976 and knew immediately she was a person full of joy & humor. Her wit kept everyone in stitches and her laughter would light up a room full of people, no matter how large the room. I know she will be greatly missed by Terry & her closest friends. Thank you Carol for many wonderful memories, now you may rest in peace.
