Edward K. Nieratko, was born of August 4, 1948 in Englewood, NJ. He grew up in Erie, PA and graduated from Tech Memorial High School. After high school, Ed joined the Air Force, where he spent 8 years as a survival training tech. It was this job that brought Ed to Spokane, where he met his future wife. Ed and Mary were married on December 6, 1986.
Ed was a general contractor in Spokane which brought him in contact with many people who became dear friends. He was a very active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, volunteering his time and talents in various capacities over the years. Ed and Mary traveled to Africa and Columbia on numerous mission trips, creating friendships worldwide. Ed enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking, and traveling throughout the states.
The Lord took Ed home to be with him on August 28, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Mary, stepson, Ty Meyers, and sisters Debra McPeek and Barbara Hedrick. He has numerous cousins, in-law, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him greatly.
Services will be held 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3606 S. Schafer Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206. There will be a brief reception at the church followed by a military interment at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a party at the home following the interment.
