Susy went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2018, after battling stage four lung cancer. She lived her first 90+ years healthy, strong and independent. She had a keen intellect and a sharp mind all her life, and kept her wits through it all.
Born in Vinton, Iowa on April 23, 1927 to Wilmer and Vera Robison, she grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she also attended Coe College, graduating Magna Cum Laude. While at Coe, she was an exemplary student scholastically and an all-around outstanding collegian with her unmatched activity in school events, club memberships, holding various elected leadership positions, which successfully affected both the student body and Coe’s outside community relations through her strong organization and leadership skills. For this, she earned the sole honor and recognition of being in “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges”. She was a member and officer of Kappa Delta. Her time at Coe gave her many life-long friends and an endless supply of happy, life-long memories. It is here where she met Logan, the love of her life. They were married in 1949 in Vinton, and moved to Spokane in 1951.
Susy taught nursery school at Westminister for 10 years prior to joining the faculty of NW Christian School where she taught 4th grade for 14 years, retiring in 1984. The next 34 years found Susy living a more active life than ever. She traveled. She volunteered at Holy Family Hospital, often sharing Christ with others. She was a long-time member of First Free Methodist Church where she met some of her dearest friends and served to help others. She was an avid and fast reader. She loved her books, tackling tough crossword, sudoku, mind logic and jigsaw puzzles.
Susy was preceded in death by her parents; brother Tom Robison; and her husband, Logan. She is survived by her son David of Spokane, WA; daughter Shelley (Mike) Moore-Lux of Kent, WA; brother Bill (Judy) Robison of Tiffin, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home, 5100 W Wellesley, Spokane, WA, Monday, June 4, 2018, 1-5 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be at First Free Methodist Church, 1725 W. Courtland, Spokane, WA, Tuesday, 5, 2018 at 12:30 pm followed by interment at Fairmount Memorial Park. Please leave comments at www.BallandDodd.com.
