Pete passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 3, 2021 at Sacred Heart Medical Center with his Son and Daughter by his side. He was born April 20, 1942 in West Frankfort, IL. His family later moved to Portland, OR where he spent several years growing up.
On February 13, 1961 he joined the United States Air Force which led him to be stationed in Fort Worth, TX where he met and married the love of his life, Linda Kay Salmons on November 8, 1963. Pete served his country for 20+ years including a one year tour in Vietnam from ’65-66’ and received many honors for his service. After retiring from the USAF on August 31, 1981, Pete enjoyed working with his best friends at Aubrey’s Upholstery Shop for the next few years. In 1984 Pete began his Civil Service career with the United States Postal Service until he retired from the USPS in 2004.
Through his life, Pete worked many odd jobs to make an extra buck to support his family and always took care of them. He was a passionate outdoors man and had many cherished moments hunting and fishing with his son and best friend Willy in a variety of beautiful NW locations including the Pend Oreille River where he owned a small slice of heaven to camp on for almost 20 years. He loved time with his family at the property (we all called this beautiful place God’s country). Although Pete loved being an outdoor sportsman, his most loved moments were spent with his family on holidays, camping or simply sharing a meal together. Pete was a jokester and loved telling stories of his life adventures. He had a great love for children and animals and both seemed to gravitate towards him to soak up his gentle spirit.
He is preceded in death by his sister Dandy, and his Mom and Dad. He is survived by his loving wife Linda, daughter Tammy (John), son Rick (Michelle), three grandsons: Darick, Devon, and Jackson, sister Chris, sister Cindy, and brother Bob, as well as numerous loved ones and friends.
