Zella Bea Novotney

Zella Bea Novotney was born near Clinton, Arkansas, April 7, 1939, as the youngest of Ernest F. and Zella Reynolds's six children. Zella moved to Wilbur, WA, in 1957 to pursue her dream of working for Bell Telephone. There she met her husband of 60 years, Richard Novotney. They moved to Spokane in 1963 and to Spokane Valley in 1989. Zella returned to work at Pacific Northwest Bell in 1967 where she held several positions before she retired in 1992. After retirement she pursued her loves of traveling, particularly to see her family, quilting and her beloved quilting friends, casinos, and reading. Zella is survived by her husband and their daughters Dana (Russ) Davies, Donna, and Darlene (Bret) Anderson, grandchildren (Mitch Davies, Matt Anderson, Robin (Davies) Hills and Zach Anderson), three great-grandchildren, her sister Ruth Watson, her sister-in-law Peggy (Morgan) Jannot and numerous nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Herbert, Margaret Elliott, Ernest F., Jr., and Eugene (E. G.), great-grandson Tristan, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law and several nephews and nieces. A celebration of life will be held at the Good Samaritan Community Center at 1:00 pm on June 30. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Kids Summer Food Club at or the charity of your choice.
