Carmen Denise Lavergne

July 17, 1969January 10, 2021

Carmen Denise Lavergne (a.k.a. La Nena) was born on July 17, 1969 in Mineola, NY to Roberto P. Lavergne (pre-deceased) and Julia Ann Robinson. Carmen was the loving mother of Isa Khalil Simmons and a dear sister to Robin Lavergne, Julia Peace, Rose Addison, Roberto Jr. (deceased) and Martin Lavergne.

Carmen was a native of Westbury, NY and a 1987 graduate of Westbury Senior High School. While living in New York, she worked as an Associate in the Fashion Industry for Lane Bryant. In 1992, Carmen and her son Isa, became permanent residents of Spring Hill, Florida. Carmen worked a full-time job while attending Pasco-Hernando Community College and graduated with high honors. In 1996, Carmen was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society where she served as the President of the Alpha Delta Epsilon Chapter from 1997-1999. Carmen was a member Lighthouse Tabernacle of Praise Church under the leadership of Pastor Claire Cox.

In every area of Carmen’s professional life, she consistently excelled and was always recognized for her excellence in customer service, performance and work ethics. No matter where Carmen went, she always had a smile on her face and managed to develop great relationships such as her lifelong dear sister friends: Beverly Garza and Vera Lacey. Carmen also had a passion for reading, fashion design, event planning and watching professional sports. She was most well known for her outstanding artistic creations, excellent culinary skills and most of all for her big heart and unconditional love. Over the years, Carmen endured many medical challenges as well as other obstacles but managed to always persevere in particular while residing at South Heritage Health & Rehabilitation Center for the last two years. God called her home on January 10, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fl. Affectionately known as “Kaiki”, Carmen loved all sides of her family: she leaves to mourn her Mother, Son, Siblings, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Uncles, Aunts and Friends, all too numerous to individually name.

To Isa...Please know that your mother was so proud of the young man that you turned into. You are her greatest joy and her greatest love. it's definitely not fair that you lost your mother at this young age. Only God knows why. And as time goes by and you have difficult moments and when you remember your mom. Hold on to the good memories. Hold on to the love that you know your mother had for you and the love you have for your mother. Hold on to the love of God sweet Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Call upon the Holy Trinity to comfort you when no one else can. I'm praying for you.

To the Laverne family... Some of my best childhood memories are times at your home at Wright Street. From the delicious foods Miss Ann would cook from fried chicken and beans and rice to the summer BBQ with the whole pig roasted in the backyard. I can still see the pig now. Best pork ever best crackling skin ever. Always a great time at your home there was always food but most importantly there was always love. I always felt welcomed I always felt loved. Carmen always would include me. Can remember rides in the station wagon LOL some kids today may not even know what a station. But I remember good memories. As you look back on Carmen's life there will be times when you will cry because you miss her. But may the love of God comfort you. May good memories bring a smile to your face and enjoy to your heart. Carmen was a believer in the Holy Trinity. Hallelujah 🙌 We both had a love of God at a very young age. I even remember once we sung a song at Salem church in Roslyn, NY. I remember being so nervous but Carmen wasn't. Carmen always had an adventurous spirit. To this beautiful blessed caring family thank you for the LOVE 💕

Oddly enough my first memory of our friendship wasn't argument at Grand Street School in Westbury NY. We couldn't been no older than three or four. I don't remember what the argument was about. We both have three oldest sisters and we're saying I'm going to get my sisters on you. I laugh and smile at this memory now. But soon after that we became lifelong friends. Besides my family you were the one person I loved and knew the longest. A friendship that was nearly 50 years. WOW How BLESSED we were. My God.. sweet Jesus. With tears in my eyes and pain in my heart. I thank God for friendship like this. It was truly heaven sent. Who else can I text at 2:00 am and would answer me back. We both are night owls. Who else would share all of the health struggles in great details with
shocking picturess too. As a warning, great advice and a hug from you to me. To say take care of your health. I don't want you to go through what I'm going through. My dear friend Carmen I will miss you so much. MY FOREVER FRIEND 💓🦋
