Giuseppe "Joe" Masotti, 79, of Weeki Wachee, Florida passed away Friday, June 19, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born on Oct 3, 1940, in Mola Di Bari, Italy, to the late Vito and Isabella (Tribuzio) Masotti. He immigrated to the United States in 1966, settling in Brooklyn, NY. He also lived in Staten Island before moving to Florida in 2003.

Joe married Vincenza Marangelli on June 6, 1966 in Brooklyn, NY.

He worked as a longshoreman for 34 years, first at Pier 1 in Brooklyn, NY and later for Global Container Terminals in NJ. He retired in 2003.

Mr. Masotti's interests were many and varied, and included gardening, Italian music, making the perfect cup of espresso, and always fixing something that broke for family and friends. More than anything, however, he was the consummate family man, who cherished time spent with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vincenza Masotti, and his daughter Isabella Masotti-Honea, and many other family members. He is survived by his beloved son and daughter in law Vito and Christina (Leach) Masotti, his grandsons: Joseph Honea, Joseph Masotti, and twin granddaughters: Felicia and Adriana Masotti, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Turner Funeral Home, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609. Dear Uncle Joe
You have always been like a ray of sunshine, always happy, jolly and smiling even though I know you probably didn’t always feel that way. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such a magical person. I truly appreciate everything you have ever done for me. I have loved every moment I spent with you Uncle Joe and I thank you for all the good times. My life has been so much better with you in it. I will miss our conversations. Please give Aunt Vee a hug from me, and tell my cousin how much I love & miss her and give her giant hugs from me. Until we all meet again <3

I loved having limoncello and chatting during family visits. He was always willing to share his knowledge, I always asked about gardening (and making limoncello). So many things to be learned from this man! Always so friendly and welcoming. He will be missed. It is so wonderful that he was able to be close to his son and his family. They certainly love their “Nonno”and have been blessed to have experienced life and Italy with him.

I knew Joe Masotti since I was just a kid, friends with his son Vito. He was always there for his family, making sure they were taken care of in every sense of the word. He sometimes seemed stern and strict, but in hindsight that was exactly what he needed to be to raise his kids well. One look at the man Vito has become and you can see how successful Joe was. He taught by example, working hard all his life, and enjoying himself when he was home. I remember his excitement over his wine making, his pleasure smoking his cigars, and tinkering around on his computer. I was lucky enough to get to help him with that sometimes, and it was always a good time to watch him figure out how to do something. I didn't have many good male role models back then, and I envied Vito for the great one he had. He will be missed but lovingly remembered by all of us who knew him. Rest in Peace
