Betty Jean Stuemke, 82, of Springfield, passed away on October 13, 2019 at Heritage Health. She was born on August 2, 1937 in Adair County, Kentucky to William "Floyd" and Loretta Knight Barnett. Betty married William E. Stuemke Jr., on July 22, 1967 and he preceded her in death on February 14, 2016.
Mrs. Stuemke is survived by one son Glenn "Butch" Tuxhorn Jr., of Springfield, three step-children: Debbi Whitmore of Missouri, Barbara Wheatley of Springfield and William “Eddie” Stuemke III of Sherman, one sister Evelyn (Joe) Liszka of Diamond Bar, CA., several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her beloved Pomeranian poodle Ginger.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Wayne Keith Barnett, William "Bubby" Barnett, and sisters Alice "Fay" Barnett and Marjorie Stewart.
Betty worked as the office coordinator for J.C. Penney’s and as a telephone operator at the Leland Hotel. She was a member of Lalla Rookh Chapter 218 Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the White Shrine, Daughter’s of the Nile, the Order of the Amaranth and St. John’s Lutheran Church.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday October 22, 2019 at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4:00pm-6:00pm Monday October 21, 2019 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street.
