Frances M. LaRocca, 93, of Springfield, passed away at 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at St. John's Hospice. Frances was born January 2, 1921 in Springfield, the daughter of Austin and Pauline Klimek Solomon. She married Joseph P. LaRocca on September 13, 1941, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Springfield. Frances was employed by Springfield Election Commission for 10 years, retiring in 1986. Prior to that, she was employed at St. Aloysius School as a cook, the Comptroller's Office for the State of Illinois, and International Shoe Factory for 18 years. Frances was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the St. Aloysius Council of Catholic Women. She loved traveling, playing cards and bingo, and was known for being a wonderful cook. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Jean Marie LaRocca; and a brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Ramona Solomon. She is survived by her husband, Joseph P. LaRocca and one daughter, Joanne LaRocca, both of Springfield; a sister-in-law, Rose Kink of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2000 Sangamon Ave., Springfield with Rev. John M. Titus officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Aloysius School or Parish, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield, IL 62702.
