Harriett May Richardson, 97, of Springfield, passed away on June 13, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on December 12, 1923 in Quincy, Illinois to Frank and Grace (nee Arnold) Pfirman. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Pfirman and a sister, Loretta Creech. Harriett married Robert Richardson in Quincy on June 16, 1951 and he survives.
Mrs. Richardson is also survived by her children Bob (Rosita) Richardson of Springfield and Kent (Bobbie) Richardson of Collinsville, IL., three grandchildren: Shane (Jamie) Richardson of Peoria, IL., Brian (Jessie) Richardson of Denver, CO., and Bethany (Stephen) Baker of Carlyle, IL., and three great grandchildren: Sophia, Finley and Molly Richardson. Her family was the love of her life.
Harriett started her career as an operator with Illinois Bell in 1944 at Camp Ellis Military Base. She retired from Bell as a draftsman in plant records with thirty four years of service. After retirement, she joined the Fit Club where she was still working out twice a week at the age of 95. Harriett loved to dance, and she and Bob loved to jitterbug to Big Band Music. She was a long time member of Elliott Avenue Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30am on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road, with burial to follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
