Mandy Klisit, 74, of Petersburg, IL passed away on April 15, 2019 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born on July 9, 1944 in Parana, Argentina to Samuel Fratkin and Reina Attias. Mandy married Richard Klisit in New York City on June 20, 1971 and he survives.
Mrs. Klisit is also survived by her children: Brandon (wife Amorita) Klisit and Jessica Rayna Klisit-Navarro both in Petersburg; 5 grandchildren: Samantha and Brianna Navarro, Yael, Benjamin, and Alistair Klisit. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her two brothers, Carlos and Roberto Fratkin.
Mandy studied Economics and Political Science and graduated with a Master’s Degree from Facultad de Ciencias Económicas in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mandy had a passion for reading, writing and learning. She was Jewish by faith and had an open heart to all faith perspectives. Mandy always had a positive attitude for life and shared plenty of smiles with everyone she met. She enjoyed spending time fishing, and had a love for animals, especially elephants. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Mandy always had a kind word or thought to give even when she herself has been through so much in her life. Her openness to learning about other people and cultures took her and her family to Israel for a number of years. It also made it easier for her to learn yet another language, for a total of 4 (Spanish, English, Portuguese and Hebrew).
Her loving and giving nature always made people feel welcome and happier than before they met her. Even in her last hours, she tried to make people feel good, no matter how she felt at the time.
We know you are with your mom and brothers that you missed so very much. We want you to know that even though we are grieving your loss today, you will forever remain in our hearts.
You were a wonderful wife, mom, Uita (Grandma), and friend to so many. We will always love and remember you, Imma.
In accordance with Mandy’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded and the family will host a celebration of life service on May 4th, 2019, 3:00 PM at the Sangamon Picnic Area in New Salem State Park, IL.
