I was so sad to learn of Todd’s passing. We met at the University of Illinois and before his move to Springfield we would occasionally hang out watching football or Illini basketball. I would seek out events in the Chicagoland area where he was a featured speaker just to have a chance to chat. His infectious laugh, his kind demeanor, and his overwhelming generosity will be sorely missed. My deepest sympathies go to Kim and their boys. It’s hard to accept one of our own is gone but he will never be forgotten. 

You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Todd brought such joy to so many people throughout his life.  We were in the same class at Washington and then I often frequented the Roadhouse. I remember in grade school when he punched the wall during basketball practice- very impressive but it must have hurt! I also was able to hang out with him in Chicago.  He made an excellent chili that he would make for Superbowl parties and he was always there to help move a friend to a new apartment. Later, our paths have crossed a few times while I have worked for the City of Chicago. He was always an impressive speaker at the City Club. Take comfort in all of your memories knowing that there are many more cherished memories of Todd carried with everyone he met.

So sad to lose such an awesome man at such a young age.   Todd was a professional who knew his issues and understood the nuances of getting things done in a very tough environment.  He had the humor to make work fun and put a smile on the face of those around him.  He was loyal to his friends through thick and thin.  Im so thankful for his friendship,  his loyalty and wisdom through the years.  I’m praying for you Kim, that you and your kids can hold onto the memories you’ve all created together, and the knowledge of his lasting impact in so many of our lives.  

A chance encounter that Todd and I had with Ayo following an Illinois victory over Iowa in 2020. Ayo insisted on someone taking our photo. A really great memory.

Todd was a great help to me as I started my career as a Senator.  He was the first person I met with in Springfield and has been a source of encouragement and support from day one.   I appreciate and admire his passion for supporting employers in our state.   He will be missed.  My condolences to Kim and the family.

One of my favorite memories of Todd was watching his masterful interviews of industry leaders at the annual meetings. Most people would require extensive notes but not Todd.  His knowledge about issues and quick wit were truly something to behold .  His two minute video drills were also extemporaneous and packed with valuable information.  There was nothing Todd was more proud of than his wife Kim and their two sons. Todd has been a friend for many years and it is going to take awhile before I will be able to delete his cell phone from my contacts.  God speed my friend! 

My heart breaks for Kim, Max and Whit.   Todd was a kind, bright professional who had an incredible ability to make others feel welcome and respected.  Kim is a consummate professional and role model for women in this industry.  I will always think of Kim and Todd as the Springfield “power couple.”   Sending love and strength during this devastatingly sad time.

Todd's passing saddens me and my colleagues. He was an effective and passionate advocate for Illinois businesses. He mentored his staff and we know they will carry on his legacy. I will always be grateful for the appointment he gave me (out of the blue) and for his willingness to help us when we contacted him. Far too early for Todd to leave us. I was so sorry to hear that Todd has passed. Debbie and I offer our sincere condolences to Kim and all the Maisch family and friends. I'm retired now from my career in chamber of commerce and economic development work  but want all to know that Todd was one of the best. I was fortunate to work with Todd and saw his dedication to, and thoughtful guidance and leadership of, The Illinois Chamber over the several decades when I served my local chamber and ED organization as he did his from Springfield. I held leadership positions in various statewide professional organizations for chamber of commerce, enterprise zone, and economic development and all of those groups of professionals were well aware of Todd, who he was, what he did, a very much appreciated his skills and support.  Illinois is a much better place because of Todd. He will be missed.

I am heartbroken to hear this news. I worked with Todd on House staff. He was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. My condolences to Kim and the boys. 

I met Todd working on House staff nearly 30 years ago. I remember Todd and Kim separately, both talented and hardworking on your own but when you came together, it was amazing to see.  You had something in common and it flourished into your life together. Sadly, we only share these memories at tough times.

I was very saddened to learn of the news of Todd Maisch's passing. I had the opportunity over the years to know him and the contributions he contributed to the State of Illinois Chamber of Commerce and business community.

Walter and my thoughts are with the family right now as they mourn the loss of this great man.

Todd's family, friends and colleagues are closely held in the hearts of those who knew him. A brilliant negotiator and political mastermind, Todd was a respected champion and advocate for prosperity in our great state and worked tirelessly on behalf of Illinois businesses for decades.

I am thankful to have enjoyed Todd's friendship, mentorship and leadership since meeting nearly 15 years ago. His legacy will continue through the ongoing work of the dedicated Illinois Chamber of Commerce team and local chambers of commerce across Illinois.

Todd was one of very few people who referred to me as Desi without correction. Each time I hear the endearment I will cherish the memory of Todd chuckling, many years ago, as I informed him that nickname was reserved for a group I can count on one hand. He said, "Well, I like it so I'm going to keep calling you that until you explicitly tell me I can't." My response was, "Fine, carry on!"

What an incredible life and life's work we have to celebrate. Rest in peace, my friend.

My heart is broken over the loss of this friend who I have know 30 years. Kim , I and Tracy are praying for you and your family at this time. We are so sorry for the loss of this kind wonderful and great man.

I just learned of the shocking news of Todd’s departure from the Illinois business and political arena an hour ago.  During the 14 years we worked together at the Chamber I gained much appreciation and respect for Todd’s political insights and lobbying abilities on behalf of Chamber members, the greater business and local chamber communities.  
He was always attentive to member’s interests and a consummate political insider who’s counsel and judgments were sought by many.
Todd was dedicated and devoted to building a prosperous Illinois. 
His contributions and successes as a civic leader have been many. 
I am deeply saddened he has been lost to his family, friends, and colleagues way too soon.


I am deeply saddened to hear of Todd’s passing. I truly enjoyed working with him and valued his insight, business acumen, and sense of humor. He understood the concerns of Illinois businesses and masterfully advocated for them. My thoughts and prayers are with Todd’s family and all at the Illinois Chamber. He will be missed.

I am so stunned and sorry to read of Todd's passing. I had the privilege of interacting with Todd in Springfield for countless years and he was never anything other than a great guy. There aren't many people who worked in Springfield who nobody had a bad thing to say about but Todd was one of them.
