Passed away peacefully at the Missouri Veteran's Home in St. Louis, with his family by his side. Denny, as he wanted to be called was an incredible person and will be missed by so many for his strength, dignity and impeccable character. Raised in Hermann, MO, Denny grew up on a farm and learned to love the beauty of nature in the growing and harvesting of crops, hunting, fishing, flowers, trees and rolling hill sides. After attending St. George Catholic School for 12 years, Denny went to Benedictine college for one year, and finished his bachelor's degree at Warrensburg College, majoring in engineering. The years of 1968 & 1969 were spent serving our country in Vietnam. Sargeant Apprill was a ranger in the 1st Air Calvary Division. He was wounded during a fire fight and received the Purple Heart Medal along with many others. After returning home from Vietnam, He went to work for a few different companies but finally decided on a long career with the United States Postal Service. He retired from the USPS after 30 years of service in April 2004. Denny was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2001. He battled this disease courageously until it took his life on June 30, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Betty, Daughter, Rhonda, Son, Scott, Granddaughter, Alexandra and Grandson, Nicholas, other nieces and nephews and many friends who loved him very much. Denny, may God hold you tight forever. You will be missed and you are still loved.

Dennis and I were in the same platoon at Ft. Benning, GA, during our NCOC (Non-Commissioned Officer) Training, from March through May of '68. I remember his face quite well. I thank you Dennis for your good service to our Nation and I salute you. A belated WELCOME HOME TO YOU. Rest in peace.

Uncle Denny you inspire me to fight through any situation in life. Your strength in all aspects of life if something that I will remember always. Your stories are those that few people got to hear and I feel so blessed to have had them and you in my life. I love you and I'll see you.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity of knowing Dennis, and through him getting to know Betty. There was always laughter and love when in their presence. His green thumb was always something I admired.
Peace and love.

Oh, My Love. It has only been a week since you went to heaven to be with Jesus, but every day that has passed has seemed like an eternity. I miss you so much and wish I hadn't had to lose you. I loved you with all my heart and feel as if half of me is gone with you. I cared for you for such a long time and I am not sure what I am supposed to do now. Even though you were so sick, You always told me how much you loved me. I know where you are, so let Jesus keep his loving arms around you and be at peace. I will try to do God's will as best I can at all times so I can and will see you again.

I had the great pleasure of knowing Denny and marrying his daughter. He will truly be missed by his three daughters and three grandchildren. He had a great appreciation for nature, cars and people. I know that he enjoyed Eagles as well. I remember a the first time that we met and went Eagle watching and we had a great time getting to know eachother. We love you. Thanks for the wonderful memories.

Denny was married to my best friend, Betty. I know he made her happy and he loved her. They had only 14 years together, but, they are memory filled and blessed. Rest easy Denny, your battles have been fought and won, and you now have eternal peace with our Lord Jesus Christ. Wait for Betty at the gates, she will find you there.
