Matthew Emil Yakich, 51, of St. Charles, MO passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 2, 2018. He is preceded in death by his mother, Diana Yakich and his brother, Frankie Gene Yakich. He is survived by his father, Frank Yakich; his wife of 25 years, Lisa (nee Best) Yakich; daughters, Amanda Yakich and Alexis (Tyler Britt) Yakich; grandchild, Skyler Britt; grandparents, Gene and Arlene Pellillo; and sister, Angela (Brian) Brooks. Matt was a dear uncle, great uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Matt served in the US Army and was a strong and fun-loving guy who was a computer whiz. He loved to golf, go fishing, cook, listen to Pink Floyd, and make people laugh. He truly enjoyed his life to its fullest though he had some tough health struggles in recent times. Even though he knew his time here would be cut short, he never let it get him down. Matt always made sure his family was laughing and had a personality that was positive and upbeat. He loved to bird watch and create beautiful bird houses. His family will miss his gourmet cooking and daily escapades but his vibrant spirit and zest for life will forever be remembered.

Friends may help celebrate the life of Matt on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at Alexander White Mullen Funeral Home in St. Ann. His service of celebration will be on Wednesday, August 8 at noon and he will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery following the service. Memorials are appreciated to The Wounded Warrior Project and the World Bird Sanctuary. Please sign the guest book and share your memories at www.alexanderstlouis.com.

I did not know Matt long, but from what I did know he was a good man. He loved his family. He had such a positive outlook on things and was a happy person even through the difficulties he faced. Matt was always good to my son. We share a grand daughter.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I truly believe God has a special place for good people like Matt. Keep the good memories in your heart and mind. Hopefully they will bring smiles and comfort.

First I want to start off by saying that I met Matt when I worked at Charter and and He would come pick up equipment up from my warehouse and the only reason I left charter was to come work with Matt because I had so much fun talking to him all the time and it was a good opportunity for me ... Matt took me under his wing and showed me a lot of his knowledge with me Including introducing me to golf which I will forever be grateful for. So I really don’t have just one memory of Matt to talk about my memory is the whole time I worked with him and he was a very smart and funny man that you could tell he loved his family so much he would always talk about them and brag about his children..I regret not seeing Matt for a while after we didn’t work together anymore but he will forever be a great memory to me and will never be forgotten.. I am blessed that I got to know you!! Until we meet again, love ya big guy!!!

Matt, I recall when you entered into our family. You and Lisa married and you became an asset to this crazy clan. Your sense of humor and ability to do anything you set your mind to gave us all encouragement. You will be dearly missed but now you are pain free and you can sit on your cloud and joke with your angel friends about us.
Love,
(Aunt) Dorothy

Lisa - We were so sorry to see that Matt had passed away. We have made every effort to honor our promise to Matt to see that his customers are taken care of. Needless to say, they all remember him fondly. We have tried to reach out to you on several occasions to see how he was doing but have not been able to reach you by mail, phone or email. Personally we did not meet Matthew, but knew him from his father, Frank, whom we have the privilege to know as he is an important part of our work team here in Puerto Rico. We want to express our deepest condolences to all the family. We know how hard is to loose someone who is so much loved and who spread so much love around. Fly high Matthew Emil, and we know you will care for your dad and all your loved ones from Heaven!

Rest In Peace Matthew! I will miss you dearly. Your wonderful sense of humor and your fantastic outlook on life. I still remember the day you became my nephew. The wonderful father and husband and grandfather you were. God gained a beautiful angel. I’m glad you no longer suffering but you will be missed. Til we meet again. I love you ❤️
