Clarkson Herbert Woonton, Jr., aged 88, passed away with his family at his side on Sunday, April 25th, 2021. He was born October 17th, 1932 in Highland Park, Michigan, the elder son of Clarkson H. , Sr. and Christine Woonton (née Gillies). Affectionately known as Clark, Herb and also Bud throughout his life, he attended St. Martin, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he was on reserve until 1960. Clark later earned a degree in Business Administration from University of Detroit Mercy, and enjoyed a career as an Auditor with Detroit Edison for 41 years. He married Rosemary Lucey on December 6th, 1952, with whom he enjoyed a loving marriage for nearly 60 years. They raised six sons in St. Clair Shores. Clark enjoyed being a father, encouraging his sons in sports and other hobbies. He and Rosemary were members of St. Gertrude’s Church for many decades, enjoyed watching their family grow, and traveled much in their later years to visit or vacation with their children and grandchildren. Always taking great pride in his home city of Detroit, he was an avid sports fan, enjoyed fantasy football, movies, and a good Old Fashioned.

Clark will be remembered most for his dedication in caring for his family, his moral support and advice, and most prominently his witty sense of humor and contagious laughter which brought joy to those around him even in his final days.

Clark was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary, father Clarkson, his mother Christine, sister Patricia and brother Gary (with whom he shared a special bond), daughter-in-law Brenda, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors and friends. He is survived by his sons David (Karen), Michael (Susan), Richard (Valerie), Kenneth (Michele), James (Holly), and Robert (Carol), as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, neighbors and friends.
