Julie Irene (Powderley) Sabourin

December 10, 1942October 6, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Julie Irene Powderley (Sabourin), in St. Lambert, Quebec, on October 6th, 2020. She was the loving daughter of Herbert Powderley and Catherine O'Brien, she was loving wife to Gerald (Gerry) Sabourin (1938-2011) and proud mother of Linda Devine (Sabourin) (Michael), and son Brian Sabourin.

She is survived by her sister Jeanne Molnar (Chuck Molnar), and brother Paul Powderley, her grandchildren Franceska (James) and Danika, and will miss seeing her future great-grandson who arrives soon to this world. She is predeceased by her sisters Joanne and Patricia.

Irene's memories were shortened by Dementia (Alzheimer's disease), but she will be remembered for her firm and proud demeanor, you knew where you stood with her and she did not hide the truths when she spoke her mind. she was an avid movie lover, a passion she enjoyed with her late husband, Gerry, who worked in the movie industry all his life, and both were big fans of John Wayne westerns. She grew up in a small town in Ontario (Peterborough) and lived in the suburbs of Montreal for the past 48 years of her life with her children where she knew many of her neighbors and was known to be seen walking her dog Jack several times a day. Jack was a friendly symbol to the kids who enjoyed petting him.

Her love for hockey (Les Canadiens de Montréal) and golf and reading, and family outings such as picnics and going to the movies were many of her favorite things to do. And she always excelled when it came to preparing a feast for family and friends and there was never a shortage of food for the eyes to see.

A visitation will be held on October 14th from 7-9pm, and there will be a funeral service on October 15th at 11am, all at the Résidences funéraires Collins Clarke MacGillvray White Funeral Homes, 307 Promenade Riverside, St. Lamber, QC, J4P 1A7

A get-together commemorating her life will take place at a later date, when gathering restrictions are lifted. *****************************

During the chaotic lunch hours at Centennial Regional High School, it was always awesome seeing Irene every day😊. She held it together so well daily, in dealing with us cafeteria misfits!!

Irene, you were a magnificent sweetheart.
