September 26, 1929 – May 18, 2013
A bright light in the world was extinguished on the morning of May 18, 2013. Amalia Mena Amador was born in Belzoni, Mississippi on September 26, 1929 and passed early Saturday morning holding the hand of her beloved grandson Daniel Amador Jr. Amalia spent her life, beginning at an early age, taking care of her family. She married her soul mate Demensio Amador on July 12, 1959, and over the next 50 years she was a devoted wife, mother, and loyal member of the Fort Bend School District. Amalia was blessed with two children Daniel, and Diana, she had seven grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. Amalia showed nothing but love and an open heart to all that crossed her path. As her last days came she was surrounded by those to whom she loved and cared for, and those whom had been truly blessed to be apart of her life. As our tears run down our cheeks and our hearts filled with sorrow we remember that even though she is gone she is not alone, in life surrounded by family and friends and in the end Grandpa and Tia Diana were waiting to greet her with open arms. You will be forever missed and never forgotten.

Molly, I always took you for granted, always thinking you'd be there as my foundation - why? - because you were the oldest, our rock, our caregiver, and I heard you tell Mom when she was dying, "Esta bueno, Mama, bete, alcavo yo los cuido por ti",now I feel like an orphan.
