George Essa Sackllah

April 1, 1930September 29, 2020

George Essa Sackllah, husband of Nuha Sackllah and father of Essa, Linda (Salah), Addel, Jimmy, and Danny reposed in the Lord Tuesday, September 29, 2020. George was born in Ramallah, Palestine on April 1st, 1930 to Essa & Martha Sackllah. The fourth child of five siblings, he grew up with a deep love of family and established a foundation in the Orthodox faith. As a teenager, he traveled to the United States to work as a traveling salesman with his father. He returned to Ramallah, and in November 1949, he married the love of his life Nuha Cook in Ramallah. A year later, they immigrated to the United States by way of boat, docking at Ellis Island.

George and Nuha settled in Garden City, Michigan, where they raised their family. George spent his days working for the Ford Motor Company at the River Rouge Complex & the Northville Valve Plant and retired after 33 years of hard work. He would spend nights working at George’s Party Store in Garden City, a local grocery that he opened and ran with his family in the ‘60s and ‘70s. He made sure to instill his work ethic into every member of his family. George was a father not to just his five children, but to his nieces and nephews who lived down the street in Garden City, fostering a warm and loving environment for all in his family.

In 1982, George & Nuha moved to Houston, Texas. As his children married and had children of their own, he never stopped working to take care of his family, both in helping with his sons’ business and taking care of his grandchildren. His days were filled with the companionship of his loving wife and the family they raised together and the daily walks he loved to take. His favorite moments were in large family gatherings, singing and dancing with his loved ones by his side. George spent his whole life working tirelessly to take care of his family and was a beacon of strength to all in his life, with a warm and loving personality that shined on everyone whose life he touched.

George is survived by his children Essa, Linda (and husband John Salah), Addel (and wife Mona), Jimmy (and wife Tracy), Danny (and wife Maram), His grandchildren Janan, George (and wife Lara), Jenna, Nicole, Andrea, David (and wife Claressa), Danielle, Kathrine, and Paul, his sister Hana Essa, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife Nuha, his parents Essa & Martha, his brother Farid, his sister Helen Saba and his brother Jiries.

Essa and Linda, it was a great pleasure knowing and taking care of your dad at Sugarland rehab hospital. May the Lord comfort you and the entire family at this time of loss. God be with you all.
