John William Lampkins

April 16, 1984June 4, 2018

John William Lampkins, 34, went to be with the Lord in Heaven on Monday, June 4, 2018. John lived a full life. He spent his childhood enjoying the east coast, living in Maryland and Virginia. Joining the U.S. Army in 2004 broadened his horizons, exploring the United States and foreign countries. The soldier in him thrived while on deployment in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2011, John decided to be a U.S. Army Reservist—serving his country and furthering his career as a Government contractor. John’s family life and social circle held great importance to him. He adored his daughter, Lauren (age 6), and he shared a beautiful love with his wife Julie. He has joined his mother, Mary Lampkins; his maternal grandfather, Robert DeLaVerne; and his paternal grandparents, John and June Lampkins in Heaven’s paradise. His memory will be cherished by his father William Lampkins; his brother, Jim Lampkins (wife Bell, son Ace); his in-laws; and a host of relatives and friends. A gathering to celebrate John’s memory will be held from 6:00 to 7:00pm on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford. In lieu of flowers, please wear happy colors and bring a card with a fond memory or story of John to share with his wife, Julie and daughter, Lauren.

Lauren, you sweet little lady, your father loves you so mugh! Your father would spend so much time talking about you, how proud he is of you, how much he loves and cherishes you. I know everything is sad and confusing right now, but things will get better I promise. You are special and loved, never forget that.
Julie, I am so sorry. I can only imagine. John had so much love for you, he would tell me quite often how lucky he felt to have you. If you or Lauren need help or anything at all, all you have to do is ask.
You, Little Lauren and John are all in my heart and prayers.

My deepest condolences. I worked with John in the Army. He was a great Soldier. He was a shining example of values, faith, integrity, and dedication. He reminded us all in the hardest of times to keep in line with God’s truth and our faith. In our line of work, this was of the utmost importance. I am blessed to have known and to have been able to work with John. May he rest now in the arms of Our Lord and Savior, and May your family feel the blessings of God.
Kindest regards, CW4 (R ) Mara Ochoa (formerly Martinez)

My deepest condolences and prayers to Chief Lampkins' family. Last time I saw him he was in a lot of pain but it didn't stop him from wearing his uniform and did what he knew best. I will defenitely remember you and keep you and your beautiful wife and daughter in my prayers. Rest in peace! Until we meet again.

Lauren, your father was a very special person and that makes you very special. His love for you is boundless and he will always be with you. You are an extension of the same compassionate, smart, caring, and brave person that he was. Hold your head high and be brave in this difficult time. One day soon you will be told all about your father's achievements, selfless service, and his dedication to you and your mom. I am sure you will be immensely proud.

Julie, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I want to thank you for your service and the sacrifices you continue to make. The only consolation I can offer is the profound respect we all have for John and the life he lived. I know that your grace and incredible strength will carry the day. Please know that we are all here for you and Lauren and we will keep John’s memory alive, forever. Thank you, John, for your service to the country, R.I.P.

My condolences to Chief Lampkins' family; I am so sorry for your loss. Chief Lampkins was the first one to reach out to help a Soldier in need. He was a constant presence (on and off duty) to make sure our unit was set professionally and personally. He demonstrated what a good leader looked like - and you could see it was in great part to him being a genuinely good person, period. I only met him in person a handful of times, but the impression he left was impactful and I am grateful to him. Thank you, Chief.

Such sad news. I knew John in Georgia and Afghanistan. He was a great guy. He has left us much too soon.

I'm so stunned and I'm so very sorry. My heart, prayers, and thoughts go out to John's family. We were in the same unit at Fort Gordon and the last time I saw him was at Fort Benning. He was so young and there was not a single person in our unit who had a sweeter or kinder heart than John. My condolences to all of his loved ones.

I served with Lammy and never heard him speak a bad word about anyone. It was an honor to know him. May the Lord God comfort you in this time.

John and I taught together for many years. We even became Warrant Officers together. I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. My families prayers go out to his family and friends.
