She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fieldon Farmer Sr; and her son, Robert Gordon Farmer.
Lois leaves behind her children, Ray Farmer (Trish), Vickie Cornwell (Charles), Randy Farmer (Sharon), Daniel Farmer (Karen) and Mark Farmer (Rita).
She will also be greatly missed by her sister, Ellen Baldwin; her 16 grandchildren; her 30 great grandchildren; a number of great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
Lois was born in Beckley, W.Va. to Ora and Vinnie Finley in a small coal mining community. She along with her two brothers Bud, Lonnie and sister Ellen spent the first years of their lives dirt poor. Like so many mountain families back in the 40s and 50s her Daddy knew there had to be a better way of life for his family. So he uprooted them all and moved to Fairfax County, VA.
It was in Fairfax County that at the ripe old age of 16, Lois met and married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Farmer.
Lois took on a few odd jobs from working at a diner on RT 29 in Fairfax to doing laundry at Fairfax Hospital.
In April of 1956, Lois gave birth to the first of her six children. Her life became devoted to being a full time mother and homemaker. She raised her children with so much love and sacrifice, always putting her children first.
Lois was also instrumental in helping Bob build a business as a home builder in Northern Virginia.
They joined Colchester Baptist Church where Lois learned to play piano. She and Bob blended their voices to sing in tribute and praise to God. Together they touched the hearts of many.
The path of life wasn't always easy for Lois but she never faltered in her faith. Even through the worst of the Dementia, she always had that sweet, infectious, smile that we will always remember. Rest in peace Mom, we'll always love you!
