Loraine Rene Clemons
April 21, 1964 – October 25, 2017
Loraine Rene´ (Smith) Clemons was born on April 21, 1964 in Halifax County, Virginia to Alexander Smith and Thelma Smith, and passed way on October 25, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. She was the oldest of four siblings.
Raised in a military family (Marine Corps), Loraine graduated from Ballou High School, Washington DC, in 1982. After some college, she was united in marriage to Robbie Lee Clemons of Dime Box, Texas, on February 14, 1986. In 1988 from this union, a beautiful baby girl named Alexis was born.
In 1988, Loraine and Alexis and moved back to Virginia where she got a job on Quantico at the Exchange. She worked there for 26 years before retiring in 2015 due to health issues. She experienced some of her proudest moments while at work through her numerous awards and achievements.
Alexis meant the world to her and this showed throughout her life. Her fondest memories were listening to her daughter sing while at Randolph Macon College and seeing her daughter graduate from Eastern Michigan University with a Master Degree. Although, nothing compared to her finding out that she was going to be a grandma (nana) this year.
Throughout the trials and tribulations of life, Loraine was a fighter and survivor. Loraine battled and beat cancer.
When she found a cause that she loved, she supported it fully. She was a long time member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She loved singing and listening to hymnals. She was preceded in death by her father the late Alexander Smith.
Besides her mother Thelma, Loraine leaves behind her daughter Alexis Clemons from Michigan, her two brothers Alexander Smith Jr and Albert Smith from Stafford, Virginia, her sister Rita Smith and nephew Kori Miller from Stafford, Virginia; numerous aunts, cousins, and friends.
