Jerry lived a full life. He was a devoted family man, a good friend, a respected attorney and dedicated to Israel and his community.
Jerry was born on June 29, 1941 in Brooklyn N.Y.and raised in Middletown, NY. Jerry married Louise, the love of his life, in 1968. In 1970 they moved to Stamford, CT where they started their family and he built his exemplary legal career. He is survived by his wife, Louise, and their two daughters: Adena Conway (Daniel) and Melanie Milgram (Andrew). Adena has 3 children, Jonathan, Simon and Noah, and Melanie has 3 children, Abraham, Madeline and Hannah. Jerry loved nothing more than spending time with his family and hugging his grandchildren.
After graduating from Cornell University and Cornell Law School, Jerry practiced law in NYC before moving to Stamford where he began his long career in commercial real estate law. He practiced for 55 years, most of it with Day Pitney LLP, representing many of the tenants and developers of Fairfield County. He was honored to represent the two major developers of modern Stamford.
Throughout his adult life he was devoted to Israel. At various times, he was a member of the Board of Trustees of United Jewish Federation of Stamford, Temple Beth El, ARI, Stamford Center for the Arts, The Boys and Girls Club of Stamford, American Cancer Society and Silver Source, Inc. He also served terms as President of The Boys and Girls Club and Chairman of the Board of Silver Source.
Starting in high school, he enjoyed playing tennis, and in recent years he enjoyed playing golf, especially with Louise. Along the way he had many good friends in his personal life and his professional life. He was a man with great interests which included reading and discussing his favorite books, music and learning about the composers and lyricists and of course his sports teams, but don’t get him started talking about the Giants.
Jerry was a humble man with deep values and a powerful moral compass. Even during these challenging health years, he always had a smile in his eyes and a contagious laugh. He lives on in the lives he touched.
The funeral is at 11 am on Friday, October 22, at Temple Beth El in Stamford. Shiva arrangements will be shared at that time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for the consideration of tzedakah to Silver Source, Inc or the Stamford Hospital Foundation or a charity in support of Israel.
