Thelma Joy Keddo

Thelma Joy Birch-Keddo, longtime resident of Stamford, CT passed away on February 8, 2021. She was 81 years old. Born in Cambridge, St. James Jamaica on June 17, 1939, she was the daughter of Solomon and Irene Birch.

She graduated from Cambridge All Age School in St. James Jamaica before moving to the United States to pursue a career in the healthcare field. She was employed at Stamford Hospital for 39 years until her retirement. She was a long time member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Stamford, Connecticut.

She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, kindness, her beautiful smile and her generosity. She loved attending parties and socializing with her friends and family.

She loved flowers and enjoyed gardening. She also loved shopping, fashion, and traveling. She looked forward to traveling to her beautiful island home of Jamaica on a yearly basis. She loved cooking for her husband and family their favorite meals.

She leaves to cherish her memory: beloved husband of 41 years, Glennis Keddo of Stamford, CT; son Gary Keddo (Sheena) of Bridgeport, CT; granddaughters, Kayla Keddo and Kelci Keddo of Bridgeport, CT; brother, Homer Birch (Marie) of Queens, NY; sister, Pearl Palmer of Jamaica.

She was predeceased by her parents Solomon Birch and Irene Birch; her sisters, Maise Taylor, Edlyn Dixon, and Pauline Birch; brothers, Evlan Birch, Lindall Birch, Oswald Birch, and Alph Birch.

Friends are invited to calling hours Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT. Funeral Service to be celebrated Thursday, February 25 at 12 p.m. at Spring Grove Cemetery, 41 Hecker Ave, Darien, CT 06820.
