Dennis Wayne Burrell, 71, of Statesville, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. Dennis was born in Iredell County on September 24, 1949 to the late Calvin and Hilda Burrell. In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his brother, David Rudd.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathy Burrell; two sons Scottie and Wesley Burrell; a daughter Angela Middleton (Kent) and one grandson Jude Middleton.

Dennis honorably serviced his country in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid fisherman, loved old cars and loved to watch the Braves play. He was also a loving father and grandfather.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 6:00-7:30pm at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. A funeral service for Dennis will be held at Unity Baptist Church on Mock Mill Road on Friday October 16, 2020 at 2:00pm. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

I will always remember his smile and laugh. He was a good guy. Took us camping and fishing, played sports with us. He taught us about cars. Took us riding in his Oldsmobile, so much more. He will be missed and remembered for his big heart and joy for life.

I grew up around Dennis and was best friends with his brother Roger I remember I bought my first car from him it was a 55 Oldsmobile . Dennis would take us fishing and stuff . he was a great guy and I'm glad I have some great memories with him = my deepest sympathy goes out to Kathy an his children- Rest easy my friend n brother I will see you on the other side = Nookie Bell
