Mae was born on April 30, 1918 in Troutman and was the daughter to the late Sherwood and Edna Houston. She was a 1935 graduate of Troutman High School and was a lifelong member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. On July 20, 1938 she married Thomas Honeycutt. Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She enjoyed being a homemaker, making clothing and was known for her cooking especially her pound cakes.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by daughters, Brenda (Thomas) Watson, Nina (Robin) Russell and Jenny (Lee) Barkley; grandchildren, Thomas (Kendra) Watson, Lance (Angel) Watson, Dana (Robert) Ware, Lisa (Chad) Miller, Rob (Christy) Russell, Christopher(Katie) Barkley, Wendy (Shawn) Anderson and Brett (Katie) Barkley; 27 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy (Bill) McClure and Margie Sims; brother, Marvin Houston and many other loving family members.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 2pm in the Chapel at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with grandson, Pastor Brett Barkley officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
The family will gather and receive friends from 1-2pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Catawba Valley Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 3675 Robinson Road, Newton, North Carolina 28658.
