I loved Gus like I love my dad. He taught me so much and I will forever remember every minute I spent at the house with all my cousins.

Gus was like a second dad to me. I spent my summers at his estate and was close with all my cousins. I had shot my first handgun, drove a bulldozer, go cart, Chevy pickup and many other firsts. One of my most memorable crazy things was that rats had somehow gotten into the hog grain freezer at the hogs pen. Gus has the idea to light gas under the freezer and when they ran out Gus, myself, my cousins and David's friend Todd all had guns and when Gus lit the gas on fire it was like the OK Corral. I never had more fun and more adventures than the summers I spent at Gus and Valeries house. Most of all Gus taught me about respect, hard work and realizing there's nothing you can't do. I was lucky to have spoken to him a few weeks ago and we had made plans for me to come visit so we could shoot guns and visit after 20+ years. We had decided to wait till I got warmer out and I'd come up for a weekend. Because of Gus I became an avid gun collector and we all know how much Gus liked his weapons. I loved that man like a father and am so sorry I didn't call him sooner and go see him. Gus had a huge impact on how I turned out and gave me a no nonsense approach to life. Love you Gus. To my cousins I'm so sorry for your loss. My dad is 78 and I'm taking care of him as we lost my mom two years ago. I love you all. God bless
