Darlene was my friend. We met like many others, through the Werley family. My daughter Becca and Amanda W. were best buddies when they were growing up. We lived around the corner and the girls would have weekly playdates together. What comes to mind for me when I think of Darlene was that she was "real". She was always herself and that was special. We always connected and could always look to each other when we needed a hand. I am sure I needed that hand more often than she did! Even once the kids were all grown up we would see each other at a Werley event and it felt like we had just seen each other a week ago. My heart hurt when I heard the news of her passing. I was lucky Darlene touched my life! I will miss her.

Darlene always was there for everyone, we knew her because my daughter Hannah was best friends with Alice W. Hannah became one of kids that Darlene would shine her happy, kind and loving arms around. Darlene included me with those same kind and caring love, always greeting me like I was the best person in her world.Thank you Darlene for being such a rock to many .

I first met Darlene over two decades ago when she worked for the Werley family. I knew immediately that she was a special, one-of-a-kind, warm and loving spirit. Her eyes were always twinkling with good humor and fun. She lit up a room and made every gathering that much more enjoyable. She was my "Virgo" sister and I will cherish the laughter we shared and the good talks we had over the years.

Darlene enjoyed life and knew how to live! The last time I saw Darlene we were at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn dancing to the music of a great live band! Darlene, God truly blessed your family and friends to have had you in our lives.

My condolences and warmest regards to Darlene's family,

Tracey Thomas

Westchester summer pool classes will never be the same. Darlene loved being in the “short water”. Darlene loved to smile, laugh and care for others. The best airport driver anyone could ask for. You will be missed but remembered by many.

Darlene was an amazing person who has always been a big part of my life. She was kind, selfless, empathetic and supportive, joyful and funny, was friends with everyone and gave the best hugs. She was a very strong person, a true survivor who turned the dark into light that touched everyone she knew. Her strength, her unerring support and presence in my life has shaped me into the person I am and has pushed me to be strong and thrive as she has. I will miss her so very much, but I know I am so lucky that I knew her and had all the time I did with her. I love you so much Darlene. Rest In Peace.

A wonderful person, always smiling, and always encouraging me.

I always enjoyed seeing her in the Chancel Choir of Christ Church, and know she's singing still in heaven.

Thank you Lord for faithful choir members like Darlene, and may we all be inspired to be as faithful and encouraging as she was.

Darlene was the kindest woman I've ever known. She was a part of my life since I was born and I know that I wouldn't be the person I am today without her guidance, love, and support. I'll miss her so much but glad that she didn't suffer.

I will miss seeing your smiling face and energy every week in the chancel choir. Darlene was the most gracious and loving person. I loved her enthusiasm and joy in everything she did. Her spirit was infectious. Prayers for the family for peace and comfort.

Darlene was a joy in our lives, one of the most loving people I've ever known. I feel lucky to have had her in my life for so long and will miss her dearly, but her spirit will remain with us. Love you, Darlene!

Darlene was a kindred spirit NASCAR fan, as we are. Whenever anything exciting happened at a NASCAR race on TV, we both knew what Darlene was thinking or saying or "screaming"! She was also a wonderful Christ Church of Oak Brook, IL Choir member, along with Ernie. Choir was definitely more fun with Darlene! She was a joy to be around, she made everyone smile & laugh (but no one could laugh like Darlene). She will be greatly missed. We are thankful we had the privilege of being part of her life. One day we'll sing together again in the Heavenly Choir!
