Maudene Beckom Benton was born on December 11, 1932 in Coweta County, Georgia to John Drew Beckom and Cora Smith Beckom. She came from a family of 12 children.
Maudene retired from "Southern Bell" (now AT&T) after 35 years of service. She was president of the Dogwood Chapter of the "Telephone Pioneers of America" from 1978-1979.
She loved crafts and produced them under the professional name "Stradie" for over 10 years. She loved fishing and too ALL of her grandchildren. She also loved traveling, the ocean and her family. Maudene was also a proud member of the Red Hat Society.
Her life will forever be loved and cherished by her husband of 68 years, Joseph E. Benton; children, Darryl Benton (Leslie) and Lisa Smith (Troy); grandchildren, Josh, Alex, Brent (Sarah) and Austin (Lena); great-grandchildren, Felix, Fraser and James; siblings, Gary Beckom and Anniebelle Smith; a host of other relatives and family friends.
Visitation for Mrs. Benton will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 3:00PM-5:00PM and Monday, May 3, 2021 from 1:00PM-2:00PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia.
The Celebration of Life for Maudene Beckom Benton will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia. Interment will immediately follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
