As an adventurous woman, Mom left the farm in Smoky Lake, Alberta at a young age. She travelled to Jasper, Alberta where she worked for 3 seasons. She met lots of interesting celebrities like Marilyn Monroe and Bobby Curtola.
In the early 50’s she met our Dad (Tim Bourque) and so started her life as a young wife and mom. Our memories of our Mom are that she kept us safe and sheltered from the evils of the world. She raised her children with pure mother’s love.
As Dad worked out of town, she was a dedicated and hard-working single mom raising 7 children. Oftentimes working 3 jobs to keep her family together. Mom reminds us of the woman in the song Harper Valley PTA. She was beautiful and dignified in her smart suits and mini skirts. She would confront anyone that had a sharp word for her family.
She was always happiest when she was with family. She was intelligent, witty, and a master at crossword puzzles and solitaire.
In 1977 she married Pops and became a traveler. She journeyed the entire continent from Inuvik to California. Finally settling down in Alberta Beach, Alberta.
Mom always let us be ourselves. We could express ourselves while she offered only love and support- never judgement.
Thank you for being the greatest Mom ever. We all love you
