Wilhelmina "Wilma" Johanna Deboer

Passed away on April 21, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wilma who was a great sister, friend and community member.

She is predeceased by her father Arie Williamson in 1984, her mother Maria in 1987 and her husband Dirk Deboer in 1998. She is survived by her brother John Williamson.

Wilma was born in Fort McLeod. She went to school in various places like Granum, Dorothy Gooder School in Lethbridge. She also went to school in Red Deer.

Approximately 30 years ago, she moved to the Stony Plain area and was supported by Rehoboth Christian Ministries.

Wilma was a very friendly lady who would talk to anyone who would lend her their ear. She loved animals and would greet every animal she met. Wilma had a cat named “Spook” (the name fit) who was her companion for many years. Wilma will be sadly missed by her family, friends and her community. A special thanks to all of her friends at Rehoboth Christian Ministries. A place where she was loved and cared for. Many thanks to the Hospital staff in the Covid ICU at the Misericordia Hospital for their care of Wilma in her last days. Wilma is now in a better place resting with her Lord.

A funeral service will be held at the Granum Christian Reformed (CRC) at a later date. Due to Covid restrictions, the service will be videoed and available for viewing after the service has taken place on the Granum CRC Youtube.

Any donations in memory of Wilma can be made to Rehoboth Christian Ministries (Stony Plain).

For years I saw Wilma walking in the mornings, same place/ same time almost every day. One day I said hi to her while she was at McDonald’s and we ended up talking for a long time. Since then, Wilma was in my heart and my thoughts, the beauty of Wilma shone through and touched my heart. I looked forward to see her and wave to her each morning as I was on my way to work. I will keep her memory close and smile when I pass that spot in my neighborhood. I felt her beautiful soul and will keep her my memory close.
Till meet again my walking friend. ❤️

So sorry to hear of Wilma's passing. The Williamsons lived behind us (the Munros) in Granum for many years and my brother Brad and I spend many hours playing with Wilma and John. We loved going to their house and Wilma always made sure we had some kind of snack. She did love to visit and was so friendly.
My deepest condolences John.

Dear John and all the friends and carers/supervisors, people of the Rehoboth Christian ministries.
It is a great loss for you all that she passed away.
thanks a lot for the great care you have offered to her.
She was a joyfull person and was gifted with the joy of believe in Jesus.
It was a pity that she lived so far away from us (The Netherlands).
I have only pictures of her when she went to Zuidhorn when i was a baby and she too with her Mum Rie and her Dad Arie.
Fortunatedly i got pictures of John and he kept us informed about her live.
Hopefully we are able to follow the service by livestream.
I wish the people of the church recovering from sickness by the power of ǴOD.

Our Parklandv family has heavy hearts in hearing of Wilmas passing 💔 We will miss Wilma as she was a beautiful and kind spirit ! Her hugs were contagious! She was a hard working volunteer, for many years. She loved adding to her sweatshirt collection every shift she worked. In hearing of her roommate and friend, Elma, passing it is clear Wilma needed to be there for her in heaven 💔Elma was also a volunteer with us for years . I think god knew the pair could not be separated! The both of them are dancing and singing their beautiful hearts out in heaven ! One day we will meet again ! You both will be missed greatly! ❤️ Condolences to family and friends

Wilma was a magical ray of sunshine. I was honoured to be part of her life, and support her. She loved her animals, especially cats, and she would always ask me about mine, and I would show her pictures of them. Every time I saw her in the community, she would give me a hug, and tell me how much she missed me! She would tell everyone she missed them, but it always melted my heart. I have such wonderful memories of my time hanging out, going for coffee, or out for lunch with her partners in crime Alma and Brenda. I will miss you so much, my favourite crazy cat lady. Rest In Peace my dear friend 💜
