Patricia Ruth Orzack
January 22, 1941 – November 12, 2019
Patricia Orzack (nee McGovern), 78, died on November 13 in her home in Stuart, Florida. Born in Jersey City, N.J., on January 22, 1941, she was the eldest of eight children. She attended high school at Saint Dominic Academy in Jersey City where she was the valedictorian of the Class of 1958. She earned a full scholarship to Notre Dame College for Women in Staten Island (now St. John's University), where she graduated in 1962.
Pat moved to Edison, N.J., in 1967 and raised three children there. She moved to Stuart in 2004 and split time in Colonia, N.J., She was an accomplished, award-winning artist who specialized in painting. She was a proud member of the Brushing Violets of Clinton, N.J., and the Hobe Sound (Fla.) Fine Arts League, where she served as Secretary and on the Board of Directors. Pat was also a grass roots environmentalist. In 1986 she was instrumental in forming S.O.S., an organization that saved Dismal Swamp in Edison, N.J., from being developed.
Pat was a top-notch cook, avid bird lover, and never missed an episode of Jeopardy.
She was predeceased by her parents William and Ruth McGovern and sister Kathleen. She is survived by her husband Robert, children Owen Orzack and his wife Anne Byrnes of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; Maura Haley and her husband Rich of Colonia, N.J.; Robert Orzack and his wife Leslie of Succasunna, N.J.; grandchildren Ian Orzack, Katie Haley, Allison Haley, Liam Orzack and Reese Orzack; and siblings Maureen, James, Brian, Stephen, Rosemary and Daniel.
