Americo "Chip" Gerald Tiso
November 6, 1933 – January 9, 2019
Americo “Chip” Tiso passed away on January 9th, 2019. He was born on November 6th, 1933 in Mount Vernon, NY. He is preceded in death by his father Americo, mother Clementine, 2 sisters Mary and Betty, as well as 4 brothers Jerry, Tony, Louis, and John. Chip was married to the love of his life Rose Marie Tuccillo for 61 years. They met when Chip was 18 years old and they never looked back. They were married on June 8th, 1957 at Mount Carmel Church in Mount, Vernon, NY. They have 2 children, Joseph and Richard and 2 grandchildren Nicholas and Justin. Chip was a proud veteran who served 2 years for the U.S. Military in Japan and was a Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus (Suffern Post). He worked 26 years in his family construction business than worked for the County of Rockland as a Clerk of the Works for 30 years. Chip’s greatest joys in life were his friends, family, and sports especially hockey. Chip was the epitome of a hard-worker who graduated Farmingdale University in 1959 and later on retired at the age of 84 in 2017. Chip lived a wonderful life of 85 years and his life will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife Rose, 2 sons, 2 grandsons, nieces, nephews, and all of his special friends. Visitation will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901 on Monday, January 14th, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Suffern, NY on Tuesday, January 15th, 2019 at 10am with the interment to follow at Fred W. Loescher Veterans Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY.
