Naomi Helene Wennstrom Hoffman was born December 17,1921 in Suffern NY, died peacefully in her slept the age of 96 on Veterans Day at the Azalea Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington NC. Where she resided with her husband Nicholas Roy Hoffman for the past several years. She was the last surviving member of her 6 siblings. (Lucille, Clifford, Frank, Nina, Gloria and Joyce.) Who were born to Mrs. Ruth D. and Mr. Frank A. Wennstrom of Suffern NY.
Naomi served as a Wave in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war, Naomi (known as Moni to her friends) married the love of her life Nicholos Roy Hoffman Jr. on April 5,1946. They were happily married for 72 years. She worked in the original Avon factory in Suffern and later worked as a bookkeeper. She was a very active member of the Dutch Reformed Church of West Hempstead, NY (known in the community as the Brick Church) and became the first female Deacon and then the first female elder of the Dutch Reformed Church of America. She and Roy were members of the Inter State Cowboy Club. where Naomi won trophies in barrel racing and other skills in the local rodeos. She spent many happy years Boating and traveling on the Hudson River with her husband Roy. She loved to cook, sew, bake crochet, garden and was an endless volunteer in any cause that would help her fellow human beings. She was well loved and respected lady who will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband Roy Hoffman of Wilmington NC, daughter Susan Rae Heise of Westminster MD, her grandson Stephen Phillip Heise and wife Virginia of Finksburg MD, niece Lisa Richer Smiraldi who was there caregiver for the past 15 years, and husband Anthony Smiraldi of Leland NC, Great niece Jessica Smiraldi of Wilmington NC, niece, Jo-An Smukala and Husband Alfons Smukala of Vero Beach FL, great niece Lori Smukala, Pamela, Nephew Kenneth J Richter and wife Donna Richer, Great niece Kelly Cocoran and husband Tom Cocoran, great nephew, Kevin Richter, and niece Janice Barth and husband Al. Great niece, Jennifer.
