

ALBERT SON “SONNY” TONCREY, age 79, of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015. He was born March 23, 1936, in New Orleans, LA, to Lionel and Nellie Cottom Toncrey. Sonny graduated from Gretna High School in Gretna LA, and Loyola University in New Orleans. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Panama. Sonny was employed by Shell Oil Co., where he retired after twenty-five years of service. He was a Catholic man of faith, who loved sharing his time and talent in various ministries of his church, including being a member of the Knights of Columbus. Sonny had many interests which included his love of number puzzles, his many road trips with his family, and his love of nature. He was a gentle and humble man, and most importantly was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who will be greatly missed by those who loved him, and by those whose lives he touched.
Sonny is survived by his wife of fifty years, Rosary Hickey Toncrey; daughters, Allison Toncrey, Aimee Ligon and her husband Michael, and Angelle Solano and her husband Rojelio; grandchildren, Alexandra, Alysse, Chase, Grant, Ian, Jude, and Dominic Ligon, and Vivian, Bella, and Emma Solano; sisters, Mary Cedotal and her husband Terry, and Nancy Delerno and her husband Darryl; sister-in-law, Linda; and many other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lionel Toncrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2015, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 705 St. Theresa Blvd., Sugar Land, with a visitation and rosary beginning prior to the service at 10:00 AM. The Rite of Committal will follow at Morton Cemetery, in Richmond, TX.
