E. Richard “Rick” Bracher passed away unexpectedly on October 25, 2020 in Sugar Land, TX at the age of 63. Rick was born on March 14, 1957 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Daisy Claudette Harris and Earl Bracher.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Claudette.
Rick is survived by his wife Laura, children Roxanne, Joshua, Sean, and Jessica, grandchildren Skylynne and Kellen, and by his sister Jamie Leigh Smith and her husband John Smith, and children Justin and Alex.
Rick graduated from Belleville East High School in 1975, followed by an 8-year career proudly serving the United States Air Force. He carried loyalty, honor, and patriotism in all aspects of his life. He worked for Sysco Food Services for over 36 years, and was well respected by all. He married Laura Suzanne Cooper in 1991, sharing a loving 29 years of life together. With a single, working mother, Rick practically raised his sister, and they had a very close bond. He was extremely proud of all of his children and grandchildren, and loved them very much. All of his girls were his joy, and his boys, pride. He was a troop leader in the cub scouts and boy scouts, and supported local theater and choir programs. He delighted in spending special moments with each of his children. He enjoyed boating, football and baseball, darts and softball with friends, working on his trains, his pets, tools and technical gadgets, and constructing beautiful patios for his homes. Being trained in carpentry by his grandfather, he had a passion for tools and building things. He could visually see when things were level, then check them with the level after. No project was too big or too small. He learned cooking skills from his grandmother, and even gave cooking lessons to newly married wives of his military friends. He had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed camaraderie with friends. He had many friends, and will be deeply missed.
