Curtis Terro

He was a native of Rayne and had been a long time resident of Sulphur. Curtis attended Our Lady of Lasallette Catholic Church and had often served by cooking for the church festivals. He and his wife, Etta were the former managers of the Siesta Motel in Sulphur and he retired from the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury after many years of service. He was known to many as "The Watermelon Man" which he loved to sell and also share with family and friends. Curtis never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with anyone he met.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Etta Terro of Sulphur; his daughters, Patricia Louviere and husband, Robert of Sulphur, Katherine Terro of Topsy, and Angelina Gibbs and husband, Jeff of Sulphur; his three sisters, Hazel, Lorena, and Jean; fifteen grandchildren, Missy Hebert, Robbie Louviere, Laticia Feemster, Jacob Terro, Brandie Myers, Kirk Langley, Maxie Tremie, Cameron Gibson, Randall Gibson, Jose' Balderas, Ana Buller, Leigh Terro, and Dominic Laughlin; and thirty-five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Frances Terro; his son, Randy Lee Terro; his brothers, Buford, Donald, Daniel, Elton, and Joseph Jr; and grandsons, DJ Terro and Michael Paul Matte.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 22, in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. The Rev. Jussen, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home with a Rosary service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to The Lake Charles Pitt Bull Rescue, 419 Contour St, Lake Charles, LA 70605.
