It pains me to admit it, but if you are reading this, I have passed away. I didn’t want to, but was told it is the only way I can get to heaven. In looking down, I see the person you knew as Betty Jane Milliorn, in her last moments was surrounded by the loving comfort of her family. But let none grieve too much for me. I had a complete life, and kept the adventure going nearly full steam more than 90 years to the very end. Whether traveling to exotic, foreign places or enjoying the simple pleasures of life in my own back yard, I was never one to pass up a good joke, play a hand of cards, or savor a fine scotch. Now that my journey is done, it’s time to rejoin my late husband “Al” Milliorn, in eternal rest – though you might hear a few rumblings in the clouds when I do.
However mine might be described, a person’s life shouldn’t be too easily forgotten, and I’m glad to know I made a lasting impression upon those who met me. Those left to cherish my memory - and they better - include my daughter Janet, who devoted so much of her time and energy to comfort me in my final days; and my son Marcus Alan and his lovely bride Melanie Ki, who I never really understood, but respect their purpose to take a road less traveled.
My almost final arrangements are entrusted to Sunland Mortuary and Cremation Center in Sun City on 27 December, at 1:00 pm, before they scatter my ashes to the wind an hour later. I hope to look in on old friends that can stop by to briefly visit, reminisce, and offer a last goodbye. In lieu of flowers, please offer any expression of sympathy in the form of a contribution to 4 Paws Rescue. For many, a pet can be like heaven on earth.
