Clair Howard Cherry - “Dude” - was born in Albion, PA on October 4, 1934 and passed away on November 27, 2022 in Peoria, AZ. His nickname, Dudy, he declared himself when he was a little boy. He would say, “I do declare “ which became Dudy. Then as he got older, Dude. He met his wife of 68 years Marjorie Hills Cherry “Berky” at a roller rink. He loved to tease Berky about how embarrassed he was every time she fell on the rink. Berky was three months older than Dude and every year on her birthday he had to remind her she robbed the cradle. Dude never lost his sense of humor and always had a positive attitude. He loved and always stood by Berky. Love doesn’t come any stronger than how much he loved her. The joy of his life were his three daughters Denise, Jodi, and Lisa. In his final days of life, his favorite topic of discussion was about the years they spent as a family racing quarter midgets and midgets (cars). He was very proud of how tough and competitive his girls were. Dude and Berky owned their own small business for over 25 years. Dude loved dogs. He was a Christian and a Mason. Besides Berky, Dude is survived by two daughters, two son-in-laws, fifteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and his 93 year old brother Myron Cherry. Dude’s grandchildren adored their grandfather. He always made time to sit and listen to them any time of the day or night and, of course, to tell them a story. The Cherry’s moved to AZ in 1966 and have resided in their “dream home” in Peoria, AZ for over 20 years. Dude often commented on how blessed they have been…Dude’s daughters made sure he got his wish of spending his final days in his home. He will be greatly missed until we see him again… Services will be held Thursday December 8th, 2022 at noon at Sunland Memorial Park in the Mortuary in Sun City, AZ. Graveside to follow.
