

She was born in Belleville, Illinois to the late Ted and Anna Mutto on Nov. 30, 1914. After graduating from Belleville High School in 1932, she worked in Belleville and in St Louis, Missouri. She married Ervin “Doc” Weiss in 1942. After the war, they lived in Granite City, Illinois, where she became secretary to the Director of Special Education for the Granite City school district. Doc and Ethel attended the First Assembly of God Church in Granite City, and served there in many capacities.
In 1978 Doc and Ethel retired to Sun City, Arizona. They built their life in Sun City around Evangel Church and made many new friends. Doc died in 2010.
Ethel is survived by son and daughter-in-law Richard and Carolyn Weiss of Houston, Texas, grandson Gregory and Aime Weiss of Pennington, NJ, grandson Daniel and Lisa Daughtry-Weiss of Cheverly, MD, granddaughter Diana Weiss of Houston, Texas, one cousin, Frances Mae Redmon of Arlington, VA, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Ethel was predeceased by her parents and by brother, Theodore R Mutto of Fort Worth, Texas.
Visitation will be at Sunland Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, with service and interment to follow at 10 a.m. Reception will be held at noon at Evangel Church, 10701 Boswell Blvd, Sun City, Arizona 85373. In lieu of flowers please direct donations to Evangel Church at the preceding address.
