Pearl Lillian Farrell

July 25, 1920March 19, 2020

With broken hearts, we the family of Pearl Lillian Farrell announce her passing on March 19, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a mighty effort to remain on this earth to love and protect what was dearest to her, her family. Born on July 25, 1920 in Bay du Nord NL, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Jane Douglas. Mom left NL as a young lady to work in Cape Breton. She returned to Bay du Nord where she and our father Pius had the first three of their four children. They permanently moved back to Cape Breton where their youngest daughter was born. Mom lived a long and happy life and was active until recent years, when her health began to fail. Mom was a long time resident of Whitney Pier. A kind and loving person, she dedicated her life to putting the needs of others before her own. She took great pride in providing what she thought might be needed, whether it was a home cooked meal, a knitted item, a word of kindness or simply a hug. Pearl was predeceased by her husband, Pius, son Tom(Dougie) Farrell, daughter Jane Crawley, great grandson Farrell Giffin-Crawley, brother Curtis, sister Cecilia and brother Tom. She is survived by daughter Gertie (Don) Di Cesare, Corner Brook NL, daughter Bernadette (Graham MacDougall, Sydney, daughter-in-law, Rochelle Farrell, Cole Harbour and son-in-law Terry Crawley, Albert Bridge. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, whom she cherished very much, as they did her. In recent years, mom was blessed to have received loving care from caregivers, Elaine Fougere and Judy Campbell who we thank very much for being there when we couldn’t. We also owe a thank-you for the excellent nursing care provided to our mother by the VON these past months. At her request, there will be no visitation. A family burial will take place in July to mark what would have been her 100th Birthday. Memories and condolences can be shared with family by visiting www.twcurry.com Mom, you were a beautiful soul Who gave so much, And asked for so little in return. Thank you for all that you did. We love you to the moon and back. Shine bright our Angel.

Dear Bernadette and family
I read with sadness the news of your mother Pearl's death and want to extend my sympathies and condolences, care and concern, friendship and prayer to you and your family. I was so happy to share a visit and a prayer with her at my last visit. As her name suggests: she was indeed a pearl of great value to her family, relatives and friends indeed her community. I am pleased to have known her and to have been the recipient of her home made bread. God bless you all

I always loved seeing Pearl. She was such a sweet , caring, gentle, and loving person. She made us so many hats and sweaters when we were children, I used to love getting one. I still have and wear a turquoise hat that she made me and I think of her everytime I put it on.
My Papa, Philip Farrell, loved her lots.
Sorry for your loss. God bless.

Michael, Dawn and Jackson,
My deepest condolences on the passing of a wonderful lady, your grandmother. She was definitely an angel on earth, who has now taken her place with your beautiful mom Michael. She will forever be with you. This time of difficulty makes this even more difficult. Please pause and remember all the good times you had with her and the wonderful gift you and Dawn gave her through your special little boy Jackson. I will keep my memories of her in my heart and remember her welcoming smile. She will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her.

My wife Janice brought to my attention the passing of one of the sweetest persons to have been in my young life growing up in Bay-du-Nord.
Her family lived "across the brook" and she would get in the dory and row to the other side to visit her Mother.
On my return visits to "back home",while waiting for the ferry in north Sydney, I would go visit the "clan" in Sydney and enjoy the company and "yarns" of back home
I'm sure she's now among the Angles shareing a smile.
To her remaining Family,our condolences.
