It is with regret that we announce the passing of Verna Christine Williams, 88 of Sydney River on August 30, 2014 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born at Baseline Road, Harbourville, Kings Co., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Jennie (Lutz) Barkhouse. Verna was a member of Our Lady of Fatima parish , Sydney River. She is survived by son, David (Linda), Cobourg, ON; daughters, Nella, Calgary, AB and Bonnie (Glen), Swan Hills, AB. and her dear sister, Joyce Fisher, Kentville, NS. She will be greatly missed by her 3 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren. Verna was predeceased by her husband John; daughter, Judy Comeau; brother, Carl Barkhouse. Visitation will be held 7 -9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3 both at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
