Robert Walker Gallops

Funeral service for Robert Walker Gallops, age 76, will be Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 1PM at Sears Chapel United Methodist Church with the Reverend Pete West officiating. Burial will be in Sears Chapel Cemetery. He was born June 19, 1935, the son of Mary Catherine McEwen Gallops and Ellis Horton Gallops. Robert was raised in Hanover, AL and graduated from Coosa County High School in 1954. Having Attended Auburn University and upon graduation from Jacksonville State University in 1959, he served his country in the United States Army until he was honourably discharged in 1965. Robert was married to Mary Cathryn Luker Gallops on December 29, 1961. Robert and Cathryn lived in Sylacauga where they raised their daughter Kelly and where they were active members of The First United Methodist Church. Robert alson was a Jaycee, a member of the Kiwanis Club, and an active participant in the Sylacauga High School Band Boosters, serving as President. Robert worked for Kimberly-Clark until his retirement in 1999, when he moved to Auburn, AL to be with his family. Robert was preceded in death by his mother, father and wife Cathyrn. He is survived by his Daughter: Kelly Gallops Davidson and son-in-law Rick Davidson, his beloved grandsons: William Walker Davidson, Joseph Luker Davidson and Patrick, Christopher Davidson, with whom he cherished every moment, Sister and brother-in-law: Sandra and George Neighbors of Hanover, Brother and sister-in-laws: Keith and Martha Jean Gray of Anniston, Charles and Melinda Luker of Kellyton and many beloved nieces and nephews. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the services.

Kelly, I'm so sorry I won't be able to make it this week. I'm not in Arkansas but having to go to a sales meeting this week in Boston and can't get out of it. Nancy will be brining my love and support as well. We love you and are thinking and praying of you guys. We thought of Mr. Robert as one of our family just as you guys are, and I'm so sorry I won't be able to make it this week.
