Addition to Obituary
Joseph Anthony Oliva, Sr.
Born in the Bronx to Michael and Stella Oliva, he served in the U.S. Army at the Pentagon. Resided in Brookville ,N.Y.
He was innovative in the Toy Industry . He was in the toy hub at the 200 5th Ave. Building . As a child Visiting him at work meant spending time in the Alexander Doll Showroom and for my brother Lionel Trains were there too. Joseph then moved on to make his mark in the housewares industry. His love of corrugated materials took him from walk in playhouses and Brick building blocks to storage boxes and imitation fireplaces for the Xmas holidays.
He retired from his last location at the Empire State Bldg, tossing his last token into the Midtown Tunnel toll booth and ended the daily LIE commute home.
Years later his retirement included having him join me at my real estate Ormond Park Realty in East Norwich for 5 years.
His remaining years were spent at home enjoying family and doting on grandchildren and re-doting on great grandchildren.
Survived by his wife Emmy Lou together 70 years this March.
Joseph being one of five boys is survived by his 90 year old baby brother, Anthony Oliva of Tampa, Fla. Along with

To Emmy Lou, my Brother-in-law Joe Jr., my Nephew Michael, Estelle, Dianne, Danielle, Amanda:
Our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences go out to your family during this difficult time. We are so very sorry for the loss of Joe Sr. He was one of kind. So enjoyed listening to one of his famous stories and the smile on his face while telling it.
As a little girl, I remember how lucky I was to enjoy a larger than life, cardboard store front with a plastic black phone, pretending to call my make-believe distributors. All compliments of Mr. Oliva.
May he rest in peace and your hearts heal.
Hugs ~ JoAnne (Jojo) Petruzzelli-Shelhammer and Family
