Daniel Ray Dause was born on January 21st, 1949 in Richland, Washington, the son of Willie Buford and Evadean (Anderson) Dause. He grew up with three brothers and three sisters, Billy Dean, Willie Jr., Patti, Peggy, James and Willard, Daniel being the baby of the family. He grew up in Washington, Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, California, and finally Oklahoma, his father being a pipefitter and traveling around the countryside working. He graduated from Ft. Gibson, OK and then served his country in the US Army as a Clerical Specialist during the Vietnam War, mostly based out of Germany. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to civilian life as a pipefitter. He began his studies at OU in the Nursing program, a job he loved and made his own. He loved this profession so much he finally stopped after two Bachelor and two Masters degrees. He joined the US Commission Corp and began his lifelong career as a Nurse Practitioner, serving his many patients from 1982 until his retirement from WW Hastings Hospital in 2017. He met the love of his life, Richard John Dennis, and found in him the love, support and caring that made life so wonderful for Danny. They were wed on March 29th, 2015 in Tahlequah, OK. Together they indulged in their love of traveling, and took many trip exploring, including, Ireland, Wales, Mexico, Alaska, Belize, and anyplace else that caught their eye at the moment. Danny loved to listen to classic rock such as the Beatles and the Eagles. There was always some yardwork to do a pool to clean, or sports to watch, he was an OU Sooner fan every chance he got. Danny was a very special man. He loved people and it showed. From his handlebar moustache to his famous grin and contagious laugh, he could make your day a whole lot better than it started. His sense of humor was legendary, and he liked to joke and tease. He was the proud father of two sons and one daughter, Tammy, Danny Shane and Rusty, and ten adored grandchildren. Any time spent with them was a truly good day. He and Richard filled their home with family, fun and friends, a lot of friends. They also shared their home with many furry babies including Bozo the dog and a cat, Stinky. Perhaps it was the home he loved that made it possible for him to treat his many patients, hour after hour, day after day, with kindness, compassion, integrity, and knowledge, and make them better body, mind and soul. He had retired to a life of family, friends, classic cars and relaxation. Unfortunately, this wasn’t to be. Danny passed from this life on July 30th, 2021 after reaching the age of 72 years. He will be sorely missed for all the love, laughter and kindness he brought to everyday life, all just by being Danny.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jon Dennis and wife Margaret (Post) Anderson, and Jim M. and wife Ada Dause. He also joins his Mother, Father, one brother, Willard, and brother-in-law, Cato Fogle.
